What if…we move abroad?

what if

What if…?

Let’s play the “What if…” game.

What if…. We move to Ecuador and we don’t like it?

We’ll move back to Canada, or we’ll move somewhere else. Either way we’ll have done something daring and fantastic, had a great adventure, learned somethings about ourselves, met new people, experienced a different culture and decided it wasn’t for us. How is that a bad thing?

What if….We move abroad and we can’t afford it after all?

Same as above, we’ll have learned some important life lessons, and maybe figured out how to live more simply, this is part of our goal.

What if…. We move abroad and we love it?

How can that be a bad thing? We stay and enjoy our new lives.

What if….We get robbed, or mugged?

Pay attention to who, how, where, when etc. and avoid that situation again. Try not to worry about it too much; it can happen to anyone anywhere, even in Canada.

What if….One (or both) of us gets sick?

We go to the Doctor or the hospital if need be and take care of it. Getting sick happens, everywhere you live. We will deal with what happens when or if something happens. We can’t predict the future; we will take one day at a time.

What if….Our kids don’t want us to be so far away?

Being far away from them will be hard, there is no doubt about it. But technology is great! We can Facebook, Skype, etc to stay in touch. In the end it is our life to live the way we want, the same way they live their lives the way they want.

What if…Our friends don’t stay in touch?

That will be sad, but I think we have some great friends that will be supportive and stay in touch no matter what. Again, there are lots of ways to keep in touch these days.

What if….We get homesick?

We will either deal with it, and support each other, or we move back. It happens, we are only human.

What if…We do nothing and continue to live our life as it is now?

We will still be the people we are, we will have our jobs (or different ones), our families, our friends, our lives as we know them, and there is nothing wrong with that. My choice would be to go for more, go for something different. Live life out in the world, have new experiences. I love my life, and especially my friends and family. And we will still love them no matter where we are.

    Lots of great thoughts there

I’m even a bit jealous, but I have my own adventure to plan so onward and upward
Im not worried that I’ll never see you again…..we seem to cross paths after long absences!
I wish you both the best of luck on your new adventure
